It's been always like this with me. I can't watch fights between two best friends. Skipped most of the parts and still got watery eyes.
This was the episode where I became sure that Zoro is the most faithful one to Luffy and will never leave his side.

This happened to me too and just like chopper did I tried to stay on both sides but didnt do me any good it was really sad

luffy's really hard to read but his reasons for me were always valid. being a captain must be a great responsibility and his decision towards going merry is acceptable but i also understand ussop's feelings because it has been his greatest treasure ever since he joined luffy's crew. i can't proceed watching the next episode, i need to cry. watching the two fight with each other and the other members were just restraining themselves to stop the two is a pain to me.

but kudos to zoro for being there for luffy. he understands his side and knows how hard it is for thwir captain to do that and decide to left going merry. ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ

more than just being usopp's treasure, it's his pride and he sees himself in merry. so when luffy decides to leave merry behind, usopp takes that as "that must be how you see me, someone weak that will eventually be left behind".

luffy on the other hand realized by seeing usopp all beat up that his biggest priority as a captain is to protect his crew, and that includes having a safe ship. probably another reason he got so mad at usopp, since opposite to what usopp believes he's leaving merry BECAUSE he cares about usopp and the rest in the crew. anyways that's my take.

Bruv i am glad that a fight like this happens and that some times this show gets a bit serious and luffy is not acting like an air head all the time .
But this is shtty writing in a way , so you are telling me usopp has this much fire power and this many tricks but he did not bother doing much when he went to retrieve the money. With the show he put up while fighting luffy he could have taken out those guys 2 times over.

It's not like that bruv. When the money was stolen, Usopp was raged. An angry person cannot do much, and think strategically, even a sharp-witted person like Usopp. That ultimately led him getting beaten, since he is not as strong as the others.

~But when he heard the news of departing with "The Going Merry", he was heartbroken, and traumatized. Always remember, that even in this real world, a heartbroken, sad heart is always more reliable than a raged, non-functioning brain. One Piece laid it out beautifully here. His love and determination for the ship gave him strength.

He started to think and strategize properly till 10PM. Whereas, on the other hand, he went to Franky's House without thinking about anything in the first place. Insanely 2 different scenarios. It's easier said than done. Hope you have a good day :)

Nah Usopp can't just fight on the spot, on demand, like Luffy or Sanji can, whose strength is their body. Usopp's fighting is all planned out ahead of time, multi-step combos that all have to mesh together for him to have even a sliver of a chance of taking out people who are so, so much stronger physically than him. Starting right with the trick of the tomato sauce to put Luffy off balance, knowing that this would affect Luffy and create the opening Usopp needs to start his chain combos. So if Usopp gets jumped somewhere he's pretty helpless yet. But give him an entire day to prepare, against somebody who he knows very well, and he can do some impressive stuff for sure.

first time watching i was just annoyed with usopp, but now that im rewatching i can appreciate how real his flaws are (and appreciate oda for making such complex characters)

to me it was exactly the opposite. the first time, like 10 years ago, I could tottally understand Usopp and was so mad at both luffy and zoro, cause I was a teenager and also really emotionally attached to my beloved people and things. rewatching now, as like an adult, I realize that really there was nothing they could do and knowing the rest of their journey, I understand that all of these had to happen so they can grow. as you said, I think I can finally understand everyone's flaws and appreciate everyone for who they are and what they have to offer to the crew. I love them all omg.......

oh my god and i just now realized that Usopp actually said that he is leaving the crew because luffy was about to say it before sanji kicked him. I have totally forgoten about this. damn luffy, he tortured usopp's heart in three minutes last episode...
